There was a recent report about a paper regarding the creation of buckywire; I've included the link here: http://www.technologyreview.com/blog/arxiv/23682/?nlid=2108
Part of the article states that "anything that traditional carbon nanotubes can do, buckywires can do better. Or at least more cheaply."
